On this website, I will tell you many things that impact how you feel. Your mind and body are constantly being bombarded with toxins and your system must decide what to handle in what order. I believe there are three main factors (after
your attitude) that are key to your Feel Great Journey. First, I will list them and then explain how each impact is important.
1. How well your body neutralizes and eliminates toxins.
2. How good the food and water are that you put into your body.
3. How much exercise you get.
On this page, I am just going to give you an overview of why I think these deserve special attention. Then you can decide for yourself what order you work on them.
Now before you tune me out, just listen to what I have to say. Who knows? Maybe I have something new to say that you haven't heard before, okay? Here we go.
First, let's discuss how your body eliminates toxins. Of course, we want to try to minimize the toxins that get in but once they are in (and they will get in), we need our body to isolate and eliminate them as soon as possible. This involves the health of our bowels. Yuck, no one wants to think about that! But we need to. When we ignore our intestines and colon, we are asking for problems. We need to keep things moving since this is the main way we get toxic chemicals and bacteria out of our bodies. If all that yuck sits inside our colon, those toxins will leach back into our system. But if we eliminate regularly, then our immune system can focus on other tasks and everything works better. I will give you plenty to think about in the Immune System area.
Second, the food we eat is our fuel. What happens when you put cheap gas into your car? It runs rough, acceleration is difficult and the engine doesn't want to start. The same goes for food. If we eat unhealthy food, we put bad fuel in our bodies. Our system has to spend precious energy trying to breakdown bad fuel and find something it can use. We end up tired and feeling run down. We gain weight in places we wish we didn't have weight and lose precious muscle.
Quality water is equally important. Water helps move toxins through your intestines and helps your skin, organs and your mind. Every important system in your body needs quality water. Water with lots of chemicals and heavy metals and toxins is just one more thing that your body must filter before it can be used. This increases the toxins in your body. We will discuss more about food and water in the Fuel area.
Third is exercise. Stay with me here. Some people like exercise, but some (dare I say most) people don't. I think liking exercise is something you learn. And you
can learn to like exercise. Here is why exercise is important. Exercise has many benefits including keeping your bowels moving. Impact can keep your bones stronger. But most importantly for people over 50 is that the latest research shows that if you get your heart rate up every day, your memory improves and may help keep Alzheimer's at bay. Can you believe that? I can! As a college teacher, I worry about keeping ahead of my students mentally. And I have experienced the benefits of exercise first hand. When I exercise I can think more clearly and focus more easily. More on this in the Exercise area.
Let me say one more thing. Since I just mentioned food and exercise I think you may be expecting me to say that you need to go on a diet and lose weight. I want to set your mind at ease. I am not going to focus, recommend or even suggest diets or any weight loss routines.
When you read about goals, I will explain why you need to keep your eyes on your goals. What is your goal here? Your goal is to feel great. Your goal is
not to lose weight, at least it should not be. If you are looking for a weight loss website then you are in the wrong place. You
may lose weight on your Feel Great Journey but your weight is not your focus, feeling great is. When you are taking care of yourself, you body will respond. Is this great or what?
